The meeting between the Ministers for Emergency Situations of Belarus and Russia Vadim Sinyavsky and Alexander Kurenkov took place today during a visit to the Educational Center of safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The focus is on joint response to transboundary emergencies, exchange of emergency monitoring data, supervisory activities for the safety of construction and operation of the Belarusian NPP, fulfillment of the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union’s technical regulations in the field of fire safety, and logistical support for the activities of rescue units.
Special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the field of Chernobyl disaster response in the context of the implementation of the Program of joint activities of Belarus and Russia within the framework of the Union State to protect the population and rehabilitate the territories affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
Opening the event, Vadim Sinyavsky noted that our peoples have been walking hand in hand for centuries, having a common history, culture, moral values, mutual respect, and together we are building union relations that promote friendship and comprehensive cooperation,
— Interdepartmental cooperation between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has been sustainable for many years. Our Ministries have been successfully implementing a number of areas together. I am confident that your visit is an important step in the development of further constructive and friendly cooperation,” Vadim Sinyavsky said in his welcoming speech.
During the meeting, the Russian colleagues were shown new samples of combat clothing and equipment, as well as the Belarusian side’s developments in the field of life safety training.
— All the samples shown are developed by Belarusian manufacturers, undergo trial operation in our units, and based on the feedback received from rescuers, the equipment is improved and retrofitted, which allows us to produce competitive and emergency-ready products. I am glad to note that the initiative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia is to develop cooperation in the field of equipping its rescue units with the latest developments of Belarusian-made fire rescue equipment, combat clothing and gear. Thus, together we will be able to confront not only emergency situations, but also economic challenges,” summarized the Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus.
A separate program of the meeting was a demonstration of the capabilities of the Educational Center of Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, where the Russian delegation was presented with training sites on transport safety, emergency situation safety, civil defense and fire safety, as well as environmental and criminal safety, safety in ecosystems and healthy lifestyle. In addition, the guests of the center visited interactive training sites on dangerous meteorological phenomena, nuclear and radiation safety, as well as got acquainted with the youth
After that Alexander Kurenkov thanked the Belarusian side for the hospitable reception and shared his impressions of the visited Belarusian enterprises and units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, noting that this visit contributes to the piggy bank of partnership relations and promotes the establishment of close working contacts, as well as the improvement of cooperation in areas of cooperation of educational institutions of emergency and rescue profile.
— For our delegation it was very useful to visit Belarusian manufacturers of fire rescue equipment, as well as the work of the Educational Center of Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, because the issues of training the population and, above all, children to act competently in various emergency situations are very important. We are interested in continuing active cooperation on the whole range of issues discussed today, — Alexander Kurenkov said in his speech.
At the end of the event there was a solemn ceremony, where, as a sign of appreciation of the importance of cooperation between rescue agencies, Vadim Sinyavsky presented awards to those present.
