The Educational Center of Life Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus joined the Unified Safety Day held in the country. The event is aimed at training citizens to act correctly in various emergency situations and raising the general level of preparedness of the population to potential threats.
As part of the Unified Safety Day, the centre’s employees held classes for Minsk schoolchildren and employees of the capital’s enterprises. The participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a simulated environment of emergency situations, to practice the actions when giving the warning signal ‘Attention all!’ and to see the potential consequences of violating fire safety rules with the help of augmented reality technologies.
The main objectives of the event were to train employees of organisations in correct actions in fire and emergency situations, as well as first aid skills before the arrival of special services. The relevance of such training is confirmed by tragic incidents occurring in the world.
In the first eight months of 2024, 322 fires occurred at the facilities of organisations in Belarus, resulting in 6 deaths and 16 injuries. These figures emphasise the importance of holding such educational events.
The United Day of Safety is designed to remind every citizen that in a critical situation, the life and health of both the person himself and others depend on the correctness of his actions and behavior. Special attention is paid to the correct evacuation of people from buildings in case of fire, both at workplaces and in public places.
Interactive platforms of the EMERCOM Education Center allow to create realistic scenarios of emergency situations, which contributes to more effective assimilation of information and development of correct reflexes among the participants of the lessons.
Unified Security Day is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve the level of public preparedness for emergencies. Such events help to reduce the risks of panic and erroneous actions in critical situations, which can ultimately save many lives.
