Today, the Educational Center of Life Safety hosted an event dedicated to summarizing the results of the international technical assistance project “Adaptation of the emergency response system of the Republic of Belarus in the context of the global adverse epidemiological situation associated with COVID-19”. The event was attended by representatives of EMERCOM units involved in the project, the team of the Permanent Mission of the United Nations Development Program in the Republic of Belarus, which ensured the project implementation, and a representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus, who was part of the project management from the donor side.

The project was aimed at increasing the capacity of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to provide medical and psychological assistance to the country’s population, as well as creating opportunities for organizing distance learning and raising awareness of various social groups on health and safety skills in emergency situations, including epidemiological, and natural and man-made disasters.

– The project, being the first initiative of its kind in Belarus, has laid a solid foundation in the field of reducing the risks of emergency situations, natural, climatic and man-made disasters, contributing to the improvement of the safety culture of the population of the Republic of Belarus,” emphasized project manager Snezhana Sokolovskaya.

Dmitry Tkachuk, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, noted that the project has been implemented in a number of areas, first of all, the improvement of psychological and medical services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as the development of cooperation with the media and the public.

– A large amount of work has been done, which contributes to improving the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and increasing the level of protection of the population and territories of the Republic of Belarus,” he concluded.

As part of the project implementation, training events were held for specialists of medical and psychological services and public information interaction. Equipment for a mobile hospital, simulators for first aid training, kits for remote psychological counseling, biofeedback equipment for diagnostics and correction of physical and emotional state, and equipment for a training site of the LSRC for practicing safe behavior skills in earthquake conditions were purchased.

One of the most significant results of the project is the development of a new website the Educational Center of Life Safetywith a virtual tour, which allows you not only to get acquainted with the capabilities of the center, but also to test your knowledge with the help of test tasks in 10 thematic areas for different age categories.
