Valya Zenkina, together with Vera Kravtsova, rescued 17 people from the ghetto, but one of them was caught by the Germans. He could not stand the torture and gave her friend away, who was then shot. Valentina joined a partisan detachment, where she fought alongside adults. Different trials fell to her share. But she endured. She stood her ground. She managed to connect with her mother. They together escaped from fascist captivity and continued the fight against the hated occupants in the partisan detachment. For bravery and courage shown during the war, she was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
After the war she moved to the city of Mogilev. For more than 35 years she worked as a teacher. After retirement she began to carry out military-patriotic work and to participate in search groups.
