She began her war with the Nazis by distributing leaflets in a village occupied by the enemy. Her leaflets contained truthful reports from the fronts, which gave people faith in victory. Partisans entrusted Nina with intelligence work.
She perfectly coped with all tasks. The Nazis decided to do away with the partisans. A punitive detachment entered one of the villages. But its exact number and armament were not known to the partisans. Nina volunteered to scout the enemy forces. She remembered everything: where and how many sentries, where ammunition was stored, how many machine guns the punishers had. This information helped the partisans to defeat the enemy. During the next mission Nina was betrayed by a traitor. She was tortured. Having failed to get anything from Nina, the fascists shot the girl.
Nina Kukoverova was posthumously awarded the Order of Patriotic War of the 1st degree.
