The youngest hero of the regiment was 6 years old. Serezha Aleshkov’s father died at the front, his mother was shot by the police, his older brother was hanged. The boy hid in the vegetable garden and saw his relatives being killed. He wandered for a long time through the forest, where he was found half alive by the Red Army. So Seryozha became a son of the regiment.
During the Battle of Stalingrad he saved several people, including the commander. When a shell fell on the dugout during a massive bombardment, the soldiers were under the rubble. The boy was not confused and rushed to call for help. Only thanks to him the men were pulled out from under the ruins. The regiment commander, who was also pulled out from under the rubble, later adopted the boy. Sergey Aleshkov received a law degree in Kharkov and went to live and work in Chelyabinsk, where his foster family lived. He served as a prosecutor’s office investigator, then as a prosecutor, and in recent years as a legal adviser at the Chelyabinsk Plexiglas Plant.
Sergei Andreyevich Alyoshkov died on February 1, 1990 of a heart attack at a bus stop on his way to work.
